As a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, I have developed a persona story that guides my participation in this organization. As a denizen of this organization, we register our names and the heraldry that identifies us so that we may be truly individuals who exist anachronistically. My name and device are registered with the SCA. Here is my persona story:
Franca Donato is the sixth daughter of an aging architect from Mantua. In his haste to be rid of his last unwed and troublesome daughter (and make room for his mistress), he agrees to marry her off to a wealthy Venetian merchant. The merchant envisions a wedding at sea mainly to avoid the plague. The wedding party and guests set sail and are besieged by a storm. The ship of wedding guests manages to return to Venice; but the merchant is lost at sea. Franca is stranded on the shores of Trimaris by the captain who turns to privateering after the death of his employer.
Stranded in a foreign land, Franca finds the company of many fine gentry in the Shire of the Ruins and is regent of the Ridotto dei le Virtù e le Vizi. She may be found serving in administration, at the scribal table, or with needle in hand.
Franca lives with her family in the Shire of the Ruins in the Kingdom of Trimaris where she enjoys drawing, embroidery, costuming, pyrography, poetry, service, and wordsmithing. Her first event was Winter Art/Sci at Weeki Wachee in the central region of the Kingdom of Trimaris.
She is protege' to Mistress Katherine Angelique.
Baronessa Franca Donato, a member of the Order of the Laurel, is the founder of the Ridotto dei le Virtù e le Vizi, an Italian Renaissance Academy and a founding member of the Company of Hermes. Do you have an interest in the Italian Renaissance?
